Dr. Sara Nelson is the founding and lead chiropractor at Freedom Chiropractic.
A native of Wisconsin, she received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. She went on to pursue a Doctorate of Chiropractic at Palmer Chiropractic School in Davenport, Iowa, where she graduated in 2011.
Dr. Sara’s passion for serving people and seeing them flourish in health was born out of her own experiences. By the age of 10 she was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, by 11 had her first surgery, and as a senior in high school was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. A gifted athlete, she went on to play college basketball in South Carolina and Wisconsin in spite of these health struggles.
While in chiropractic school, Dr. Sara learned about the body’s ability and potential to heal itself. After receiving her own corrective chiropractic care, she was able to get off of medications she had taken for 14 years, and has had no side effects or problems since. These experiences have shaped Dr. Sara’s desire for people to realize their true potential in health and experience the freedom it brings their lives.
After graduating from Palmer, Dr. Sara practiced in a local office in Knoxville, TN for the past four years. While there, her love for the people of Knoxville and her passion to serve the community in a greater capacity was realized, and the vision for Freedom Chiropractic was born.
Outside of work, you can find her laughing and enjoying time with friends and family, soaking up the sun on a pontoon, exploring the outdoors, serving at her local church, or spending time with her dog and her horse – Rory and Whinny.
